2017 is a milestone season as “Wenonah Grows” with not only a dramatic increase in property size but significant evolutions in program structure and content.
This is the second of several communiques as we share the story of Wenonah’s latest chapter. Today, we’d like to highlight some exciting evolutions in the Summer Camp program in place for 2017. Special thanks to Summer Camp Director Geoff “Rudy” Williamson & Outdoor Centre Director Rianne Barette along with our Wenonah Grows Summer Camp Program Task Force (Maia Bradshaw, Dan Harrison, Miriam Heavenrich, Jason Monteith, Jared Perlmutter, Brit Shelly, Pam Sidey, Kevin Smith, Ben Waite & Jeff Bradshaw) for a huge amount of work to date reinforcing the best parts of the Wenonah experience as well as looking at ways to improve and evolve our Summer Camp program.
Here’s just a small sneak peek at some of the things that our campers can look forward to in 2017 (A Top Ten List of Wenonah 2017 Summer Camp program enhancements!):
A “TRY ME” program as part of the first day orientation.
- A full 24 hour option period as campers arrive to try different activities before booking their PICS.
NEW PICS being offered for One Month and Two Week campers include:
- WENONAH MEDIA GROUP (Journalism & Photography focus)
The return of the camper produced Happy Camper journal packaged with The Roberta Bondar digital photography program
- WPMGA (Wenonah Professional Mini Golfers Association) at Wenonah Pines
A great chance to enjoy ladder, league and tournament play.
- MUSICIANS ALLIANCE (Advanced Music focus)
Featuring vocal, song-writing, performance (Closing Camp, CWLT), acoustic guitar and percussion for experienced vocalists and musicians.
AQUASPORTS has been redesigned:
- NEW Paddle Boarding
- NEW Snorkeling ** now TWO lakes to explore!
- Water polo / Baby Duck
- Synchronized Swimming
- Rivers & Dams
- Shallow Water Showcase
- Storm The Beach
FITNESS & WELLNESS CLUB has evolved to include:
- NEW Yoga & Pilates
- Circuit Training
- Water Aerobics
- Sawmill Run
- NEW Paddle Boarding
- Trail Running
- Initiative Marathon (Prop / Low Ropes)
LANDSPORTS now includes:
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Beach Volleyball
- Gaga Ball
- Millionaire Day (Bocce, Horseshoes, Crocket)
- Initiative Marathon (Prop Based)
- Frisbee Golf (with a brand new course on the new property!)
- Hydro Pyro
OUTDOOR LIVING SKILLS will be taking advantage of our new property with:
- Fire Making & Back Country Cooking
- Camp Craft (Tarps, Portage, Tripping Skills)
Watch for PROGRESSIVE DINNERS that feature “Girls Night Out” & “Boys Night Out” programs
COOKS DAY OFF will feature a return to “Outlunches” (takeaway cabin-based meals to venture out and around Camp)
SECTION PROGRAMS are now divided equally between Girls & Boys and Junior (12 & Under) and Senior (13 & Up) sections.
WENONAH FEST! Is the final full day of Periods One and Three and features a morning festival of activities all over Camp (individual choice) and an afternoon featuring cabin-based fun. And the day includes the return of Camp Parades with many favourite characters.
