Staff Biographies

Meet the 2017 Summer Camp staff team! We are so pleased and proud that 96% of our staff team are returning from last year.

Wenonah staff members are acclaimed leaders in their communities and at school. Many are volunteers committed to making the world at better place. Others are accomplished athletes. Other still are honour roll students. And all are working at Camp because they share one thing in common: providing safe, fun, and memorable Summer experiences to each and every Wenonah camper.

Meet Our Staff!

Resource Staff

 

Carl is joining us for his 1st year on staff and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently completing his high school diploma at Neuchatel Junior College in Neuchatel, Switzerland. He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, as well holds his Swimming Instructor certification. He has worked as a Swimming Instructor at the North Toronto Aquatics Club. He also recently volunteered on a service trip to Kenya. Carl enjoys skiing and photography and his favourite food is Pad Thai.

Outdoor Centre Director

Rianne is an experienced and accomplished camp and outdoor education professional. She is a veteran of many years as a staff member at Wenonah, including time spent as Assistant Director, Tripping Director, and Group Coordinator. Rianne previously assumed the role of Associate Director at Camp Summit in Squamish, British Columbia, coordinating all Summer Camp registration and business activity for their office.  While out west, Rianne served as Secretary of the Board for the British Columbia Camps Association and remains an active leader within the industry. Rianne completed a degree in Global Studies, with a minor in Gender Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a past recipient of the Schaefer Scholarship, which acknowledges outstanding contributions to life and learning at Camp Wenonah.

Nurse (Period One)

Carol is joining us for her 5th year on staff at Camp Wenonah. She is a graduate of The University of Western Ontario with a degree in Nursing. She is currently working as a Clinical Educator in the NICU at Trillium Health Partners and as a Staff Nurse in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children. Carol enjoys the outdoors, cottaging, being in a boat and travelling. She has travelled extensively throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Carol is from Mississauga, ON.

Founder / Executive Director

A veteran camping professional, Jeff has over 30 years experience as a Camp Director. He is a Past President of the Canadian Camping Association, and currently serves the global camping movement as Ambassador Chair on the Steering Committee of the International Camping Fellowship. Jeff received the highest honour in Canadian camping, the Ron Johnstone Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the most prestigious award from the Ontario Camps Association, the Dorothy Walter Award of Excellence. Jeff has led training and participated in exchanges in Australia, Japan, Russia, Europe, South America and across North America. Jeff is an active leader within the Ontario Camps Association (OCA). He has served on the OCA Board of Directors; coordinated the annual OCA Skills Weekend; served on many OCA Committees and Task Forces; led workshops and seminars, and is a member of the Society of Camp Directors. Jeff’s extensive camping background includes many years as a camper, counsellor in training, junior counsellor, counsellor, section director, leadership director, program specialist, area head and Outdoor Centre Program Coordinator. Prior to becoming the Owner/Director of Camp Wenonah, Jeff held several full-time, year round positions including Director of Camping for the YMCA; the Director of Camp Couchiching (including the Ontario Cystic Fibrosis Camp) and the founding Director of the Couchiching Outdoor Centre.

Period Five Director

Josh joins us for his tenth year as a Camp staff member. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Communications for the University of Southern Maine. He currently works is Sales & Business Development at CampBrain, a camp database software company based out of Toronto.  Josh and his wife Maia (WEEnonah Director) married at Camp in 2008; they have two daughters (Zosia and Celia). Josh enjoys playing sports and watching the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots. 

Paddlesports Area Head

Madison joins us for her fourth year as a staff member and her 14th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Media Studies at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She is a past gymnastics coach at the Burlington Gymnastics Club and art director of the Hillfield Strathallan College Yearbook. Madison enjoys hiking, playing guitar, film, and being outdoors.

Madison is from Burlington, ON.

Program Consultant

Renata brings over 30 years experience to her role at Wenonah. She is a former teacher with the Halton District School Board, and also a former Instructor of Outdoor Recreation at Mohawk College. She served as an Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Education at York University. A graduate of Queen’s University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, Renata has offered leadership as a workshop and program facilitator for the Ontario Camps Association, Ontario Day Camp Summit, and International Camping Congress. Renata began her professional camp career at YMCA Wanakita (Haliburton, ON). There she held numerous positions including Counsellor, Arts & Crafts Director, and Day Camp Director. She was also a Program Specialist and Program Coordinator with the Wanakita Outdoor Centre. At Camp Couchiching (Orillia, ON), Renata took on leadership responsibilities as the Director of the CIT (Counsellor in Training) program.

Associate Director - Administration

Caron coordinates all the activity at our Main Office in Burlington, Ontario including overseeing all the administration for Camp Wenonah, The Camp Wenonah Centre for Outdoor Education, and Women’s Weekend programs. She also coordinates the annual Wenonah Foundation Golf Classic, which raises funds to help send children in need to Camp. Caron previously worked with CUMIS Insurance, and then assumed her most demanding role yet – mother of three children! Caron also worked in the Registrar’s Office at Sheridan College. Caron began with Wenonah in 2000 as the Manager of the Camping and Outdoor Bookstore. From there, she assumed the role of Director of Administration for Wenonah Day Camp. Caron is a familiar voice to those who call Wenonah’s Burlington office during the year. Caron and her husband Mike live in Burlington. They are the proud grandparents of three granddaughters and four grandsons.

Counsellor

Kelly is joining us for her 2nd year on staff at Camp Wenonah. She holds a Bachelor of Zoology and Animal Science from Deakin University (Burwood, VIC). She has worked at Myuna Farm – City of Casey teaching environmental education and at the Mornington Peninsula Wetlands with the rehabilitation and conservation crew. She has also volunteered at the Kwantu Private game Reserve in South Africa. Kelly enjoys hiking, kayaking, caving, camping and travelling!

Kelly is from Melbourne, Australia.

Sailing Area Head

Jack is joining us for his fourth year as a staff member and his ninth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently studying film at Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo, ON). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Jack has experience as a volunteer staff member at Pawsitively Pets Day Camp in Toronto. He enjoys film, politics, and food and is actively working on improving his cooking skills (he will let you know how it goes….).

Resource Staff

Jess is joining us for her 2nd year on staff and her 7th year total at Camp Wenonah. She currently attends Leaside High School (Toronto, ON). She is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She has worked previously as a counsellor at Pawsitively Pets Kids Camp in Toronto, as well as a babysitter. She also volunteers working with children at a local school as well as a Compete for the Cure Team Organizer. Jess enjoys travelling, dancing, recreational singing, card games and Camp!

Nurse (Period Four)

Rebecca is joining us for her 1st year on staff at Camp Wenonah! She is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is currently pursuing a Masters of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner at U of T. She currently works as a Lung Transplant Nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She is a volunteer with Scouts Canada and enjoys sewing, camping, hiking and any activity that gets her outdoors.

Rebecca is from Toronto.

Nurse (Period Four)

 

Rey is joining us for his 1st year on staff at Camp Wenonah, but brings 5 years on experience from Camp Huronda and 2 years’ experience from Camp Kwasind. Rey holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ryerson University (Toronto, ON). Rey is currently a practicing nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Rey enjoys hiking, camping, canoeing, robotics and cooking.

Nurse (Period Five)

Erica is joining us for her 5th year on staff at Camp Wenonah. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) and a Masters of Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Toronto. She currently works at St. Jude Medical as a Procedural Specialist in Cardiac Rhythm Management. Erica enjoys tennis, skiing, and exploring the world with her son.

Counsellor

Ryan is joining us for his fourth  year on staff and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently pursuing a degree in Communication Studies from Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo, ON). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He is a former junior curling coach at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. Ryan enjoys hockey, soccer, snowboarding, swimming, and playing guitar. Ryan is also an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.

Property Staff

Mauricio is joining us for his second year as a staff member and his eighth year total at Camp Wenonah. Mauricio also brings two years of experience working at Kin Camp in Mexico City. He is currently in his first year at the Autonomous Mexican Institute of Technology (Mexico City) studying Law & Accounting. Mauricio enjoys tennis, rugby, and organized debate, and is left-handed.

WCIT Director

Emily is joining us for her 4th year on staff and her 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Broadcasting: TV/Video Production at Canadore College (North Bay, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She worked previously at the Nippising/Canadore Campus Bookstore. Emily enjoys guitar, volleyball and dogs.

Emily is from Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON.

Assistant Director

Brian is joining us for his 3rd year on staff at Camp Wenonah. He also brings 2 years of experience as a program Assistant at Cahir GAA Sports Camp. He is a graduate of Kildalton Agricultural College in Agriculture and Dairy Heard Management. Brian is a past Assistant Farm Manager on various farms in Ireland, he is also a past Volunteer at Stemple Stadium in Thurles, Ireland. This past summer Brian drove and camped from Vancouver to Toronto. Brian is an avid bass player.

Brian is from Cahir Co Tipperary, Ireland.

Assistant Director

Sage is joining us for her seventh year as a staff member and her 15th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently finishing off her degree in English and Psychology at St. Francis Xavier University (Antigonish, NS). She is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, and is also certified by the Coaching Association of Canada. She works as special needs support at the Red Apple Day Care in Antigonish and as a research assistant in the Child Development Lab at the University.  She also volunteers at Best Buddies in Antigonish working with adults with special needs, and volunteers in Child Life at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. A past Wenonah Schaefer Scholarship recipient (2016), Sage enjoys hiking, canoe tripping, and running. She is travelling in New Zealand for six weeks leading up to Camp!

Sage is from Newcastle, ON.

Counsellor

Paige is joining us for her second year on staff and her 10th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing an arts degree at St. Francis Xavier University (Antigonish, NS). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Paige has worked as a Ski Coach at Craigleith Ski Club as well worked as a volunteer day care helper at Red Apple Children’s Centre. Paige enjoys camping and Harry Potter.

Nurse (Period Four)

Gen joins us for her second year as a nurse at Camp. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University (Manila, Philippines). She has past experience as an Emergency Room and Pediatrics Nurse, and currently works as a Community/School Nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses in the Middlesex-Elgin region. Gen enjoys arts and crafts, crocheting, and reading.

Gen is from London, ON.

Resource Staff

Thomas is joining us for his 2nd year on staff and his 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently completing his diploma at Oakville Trafalgar High Scholl (Oakville, ON). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, as well holds his Swim Instructor certification. He works as a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard with the Town on Oakville. He volunteered aiding biological research in Cusuco National Park, Honduras in March of 2016. Thomas enjoys biology, physics, golf, hockey and soccer.

Resource Staff

Tae is joining us for his 2nd year on staff and his 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. He currently attends Oakville Trafalgar High School (Oakville, ON). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He works as a Snowboard Instructor at Holimont Ski Club and has also volunteered with Lighthouse, a charity for grieving children, as well as the Relay for Life. Tae enjoys football, rugby, snowboarding, hockey, whitewater kayaking, the outdoors, and making new friends.

Resource Staff

Kate is joining us for her 1st year on staff and her 10th year total at Camp Wenonah. She currently attends Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School (Toronto, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She has worked as a Minor League Baseball Umpire, as well has volunteered at the St. Clare Inn Women’s Shelter Fundraising Gala, an Introductory Grade 9 Summer School Teachers Assistant and as a Softball Coach. Kate enjoys baking, hockey (both field and ice), painting, softball, soccer, photography and animals.

Resource Staff

Maddie is joining us for her 2nd year on staff and her 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently completing her diploma at Dr. Frank J. Kayden Secondary School (Burlington, ON).  She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She works as a Dance Instructor and a Hospital Office Receptionist. Additionally, she volunteers with the Oakville Hospital as a Midwife Shadow. Maddie enjoys dancing, musicals, and her cats and dogs. She is also an avid fan of everything Disney.

Nurse (Period Five)

Carey is joining us for her third year on staff at Camp Wenonah. A Registered Nurse, she currently works in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Cary enjoys skiing, snowshoeing, biking, camping, photography and painting.

Carey is from Barrie, ON.

Property Staff

Sam is joining us for his third year on staff and his sixth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently pursuing a degree in political science at the University of Guelph. He is a volunteer sports photographer for the athletics program at the University of Guelph.  Sam enjoys photography, specializing in astrophotography.

Camp Kivita Director

Dan is joining us for his 14th year on staff at Camp Wenonah and his fourth summer as our Camp Kivita Director. He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University and a Masters degree from the University of Toronto. He currently works as a Mechanical Developer at Synaptive Medical. A past Wenonah Schaefer Scholarship recipient (2016), Dan enjoys cycling (with the Cabbagetown Cycling Club), running, music (an Oboe player in the Corktown Chamber Orchestra), cooking, taking pictures, fixing up his old house, and most of all Camp.

Dan lives in Toronto.

Nurse (Period Three)

Franziska joins us for her sixth year on staff at Camp Wenonah. Originally from Nuremberg, Germany she received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Cnopf’sche Kinderklinik in Nuremberg. She currently works in the Crititcal Care Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She is a proud mother of two and enjoys travelling, snowboarding, and camping.

Resource Staff

Kieran is joining us for his second year on staff and his 13th year total at Camp. He is finishing off his high school diploma at Abbey Park High School (Oakville, ON). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Kieran works as a youth Ski Coach at Blue Mountain and volunteers with Seeds of Tomorrow organizing food sales for underprivileged children. Kieran is an avid musician (drums and tenor saxophone). He also enjoys graphic design, fitness, and skiing.

Property Staff

Aidan joins us for his second year as a staff member and his fourth year total at Camp. He currently attends Abbey Park High School (Oakville, ON). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He works as a hockey goalie instructor. Aidan enjoys hockey, baseball, travelling, snowboarding, canoeing, and kayaking. He is also an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.

Health Care Associate

Abbey joins us for her third year as a staff member and her 14th year total at Camp Wenonah. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brock University (St. Catharines, ON). Abbey is trained in Mental Health First Aid. She is NLS certified and also holds her Standard First Aid & CPR-C as well as her Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (BCLS). She is a former Clinical Extern at the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, ON), as well as a Special Needs Activity Program volunteer at Brock University. She also volunteers at Power Yoga Canada. Abbey enjoys hockey, skiing, yoga, dogs, and exploring the outdoors. 

Abbey is from Oakville, ON.

Counsellor

Georgina joins us for her first year at Camp Wenonah. She brings two years of Camp experience from Camp Jubilee (North Vancouver, BC). She is a graduate of Goulburn Valley Grammar School (Shepparton, VIC). In addition to her experience at Camp Jubilee, she has worked at the Banff Gondala, and holds certifications in High Ropes and Caneoing instruction. Georgina enjoys the outdoors, travelling, sushi and photography.

Georgina is from Finley, Australia.

Resource Staff

Joe joins us for his first year as a staff member and his eighth year total at Camp. He currently attends Sir Robert Borden High School (Ottawa, ON). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Joe has volunteered as a wrestling coach and at his local church. Joe enjoys painting, working with people, and wrestling.

Resource Staff

Tess joins us for her second year as a staff member and her fifth year total at Camp. She is currently completing her high school diploma at Riverdale Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She works at GrassRoots Kitchen and Starbucks Coffee Company, as also volunteers with Out of the Cold serving food and providing support to those who are homeless. Tess enjoys coffee, music, film, clothes, wolves, the outdoors, and writing.

Boys Section Director

Spencer is joining us for his 3rd year on staff and his 13th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is a graduate of Notre Dame Secondary School (Burlington, ON) and is currently working at Oliver & Bonacini restaurant in downtown Toronto. He is a past volunteer with both the CIBC Run for the Cure as well as the Dundas Dynamo Basketball Camp. Spencer enjoys guitar, film & TV, snowboarding, golf & basketball. Spencer is an aspiring actor and a lover of all things Camp!

Property Staff

Owen is joining us for his second year on staff and his ninth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently finishing off his high school diploma at Lorne Park Secondary School (Mississauga, ON). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Owen works as a household landscaper as well as a volunteer at the Credit Valley Conservation Area. Owen is ROPSSAA Volleyball Champion and 3 time Lorne Park Volleyball MVP. Owen enjoys the outdoors, sports, camping, and adventures.

Owen is from Mississauga, ON.

Tripping Director

Helena is joining us for her 4th year on staff and her 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing a degree in Life Sciences for Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, she is also an Advanced First Medical Responder. She has worked as a math, French and English tutor as well volunteers with Queens First Aid as a First Responder and Good Times Diner, a student run soup kitchen. She is a past recipient of Wenonah’s Simon Wells First Year Staff Award. Helena enjoys canoe tripping, painting, Canadian art, First Aid and puns!

Resource Staff

Anna is joining us for her first year on staff and her fifth year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently completing her high school diploma at Lycée de Bellevue (Fort-de-France, Martinique). Anna enjoys travelling and scuba diving.

Anna is from Schoelcher, Martinique.

Executive Chef

Brad boasts a remarkable resume, and we are proud that he returns to serve us great meals throughout the season at Camp. Brad has an extensive background in fine dining, bringing over 20 years of experience in the food service industry to Wenonah.

Brad began his career as an apprentice at prestigious Glen Abbey Golf Club (Oakville, ON). At Glen Abbey, he rose to the position of Sous Chef. From there, Brad worked in the kitchen at Chateau Lake Louise (Alberta), Windermere House (Muskoka), and Blue Moutain Ski Club (Collingwood). More recently, Brad served as the Executive Chef at Georgian Peaks Ski Club (Collingwood). Brad is a recipient of Ski Canada’s award for the country’s best fine dining.

Counsellor

Cam is joining us for his third year on staff and his eighth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently studying management at the University of St. Andrews (St. Andrews, Scotland). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He has volunteered with Kids Now, helping teens overcome age specific issues. He is a recipient of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. He is on the University of St. Andrews lacrosse team. Cam enjoys travelling, spending time with friends, and making breakfast.

Media Area Head

Emma is joining us for her 2nd year on staff and her 5th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Environmental Science at Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS). She also brings experience from Harbourfront Centre Summer Camps in Toronto where she was as a Day Camp Counsellor. Emma enjoys photography, health & fitness, and the ocean.

Resource Staff

Gwen is joining us for her second year of staff and her ninth year total at Camp Wenonah. She also works as a Girls Counsellor at Arts Studio for Children. She is currently completing her diploma at Havergal College (Toronto, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She has volunteered as an intern with Futurpreneur program as well as the Dramaway Expression Works for Young Adults with Down Syndrome. Gwen enjoys architecture, guitar, drawing, reading, and sports.

Girls Section Director

Carey is joining us for her 5th year on staff and her 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Electrical Engineering at Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is certified in NLS, Standard First Aid & CPR-C, and Water Safety Instructor. She is a past Swim Instructor at the North Toronto Aquatic Club and is a Queen’s University Engineering Orientation Leader. Carey enjoys running, rugby and dance.

Resource Staff

Andrea is joining us for her 2nd year on staff and her 12th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently completing her diploma at Leaside High School (Toronto, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She works as a Gymnastics Coach at Children’s Fitness Centres of Canada and as a Math Tutor. She is a past recipient of the Spirit of Wenonah Award. Andrea enjoys travelling, rock climbing and Camp!

Property Director

Colin is joining us for his fourth year on staff and his 12th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently pursuing a degree in commerce from Dalhousie University (Halifax, HS). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He is a varsity cross country athlete at Dalhousie with whom he also volunteers. He has done additional volunteer work with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. He is a past recipient of the Simon Wells First Year Staff Leadership Award (2015). Colin enjoys canoe tripping and is a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Assistant Director

Rebecca joins us for her sixth year as a staff member and her 15th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University (Halfiax, NS). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She previously spent a year working as an Au Pair in Sitges, Spain. She is fluent in French and conversational in Spanish. Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and singing.

Property Staff

Brandon joins us for his second year on staff and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is a graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts (Toronto, ON).  He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He works at The Queen Mother Café and Taxi Canada LTD. He is a past recipient of the Spirit of Wenonah Award and the winner of two Golden Keys and a Silver Key from Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards. Kora is joining us for her 3rd year on staff and her 7th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Saint Francis Xavier University (Antigonish, NS). Kora has experience as an Assistant Tutor at the Oxford Learning Center as well as volunteer experience at the Kingsway Animal Hospital and the Our Lady of Sorrows Swim Team. Kora enjoys swimming, skiing and travelling.

Director of Operations

Camp has been part of Fraser’s life since 1999. He currently serves as Director of Operations, and has overall responsibilities for all capital development. Previously, he was Director of The Camp Wenonah Centre for Outdoor Education. “Tito” is a veteran Wenonah staff member, having held several previous roles including Assistant Director, WCIT Director, POLARIS Director, Property Director, and Counsellor. He has five years experience working with the Outdoor Education Centre program. Tito attended Camp for many summers as a camper, and successfully completed the POLARIS and WCIT leadership program. Fraser is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, where he studied English. He completed the International Camp Directors Course and attended the International Camping Congress in October 2014. Outside of Camp, Tito provided leadership as a coach of a minor league hockey team in Waterloo, ON. Tito is an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and enjoys golf and spending time with friends and family when not at Camp.

Resource Staff

Ethan joins us for his second year as a staff member and his ninth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently completing his diploma at Northern Secondary School (Toronto, ON). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, and is a certified Swim Instructor. He has worked as a swim instructor at Beach Swim School for the past three years. He is a volunteer with his school’s fashion show. Ethan enjoys rugby, hockey, tennis, football, swimming, acting, singing, and piano.

Period 3B Director

Jason is a high school teacher with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board. He brings over 20 years of camp experience to his role as Director of Wenonah’s Period 3B introductory Camp program. Jason has an extensive leadership background as a counsellor, section director, leadership development director, and program coordinator at a number of Ontario Camps Association accredited camps. Jason is also a former Director of Wenonah Day Camp. He has been a familiar face during Period Five since 2004. In addition to his contributions to Wenonah, Jason has directed day camps for the Hamilton Board of Education, and led a number of workshops for the Ontario Camps Association. Jason, and his wife Tanya, live in Oakville with their two young children.

Counsellor

Blake is joining us for his 2nd year on staff and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He currently attends Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, North Carolina). He is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. He has past volunteer experience at ORC Fitness Camps and Mississauga Hockey Clinics. Blake enjoys hockey, tennis and the outdoors.

Tristen is joining us for her 2nd year on staff and her 10th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She is a past volunteer at Parklawn Day Camps as a counsellor as well volunteered with both the Ride to Conquer Cancer and the Out of the Cold Program. Tristen enjoys basketball, baking, travelling and photography and has the ability to lick her own elbow (get her to show you!).

Michael joins us for his second year as a staff member and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently finishing his diploma at The Gow School (South Wales, New York). He was also recently a Four H Speech State finalist and is the VP of the Thespian Society in Buffalo, New York. Michael enjoys storytelling, rowing, theatre, D&D, and travelling.

Jackie is joining us for her 5th year on staff and her 12th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Commerce at Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is an Executive Member of both the Queens Commerce Orientation Program and the Queen’s Leadership, Development and Excellence Conference. Jackie enjoys sailing, skiing and travel and is spending a semester on exchange in Estonia!

Nurse (Period Two)

Gwen joins us for her tenth year as a nurse at Camp Wenonah. Gwen holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Massey University (Palmerston North, New Zealand). She currently works as the Cardiac Surgery Coordinator in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Trillium Health Partners (Mississauga, ON). Gwen interests include heart health and education, swimming, walking, and travel. She is the mother of four young adults.

Maggie is joining us for her 5th year on staff and her 12th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently pursuing a degree in Political Science and Economics at McGill University (Montreal, QC). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Maggie has worked as a Marketing Representative at Paramount Pictures. She enjoys hiking, the environment, international politics, Seinfeld and wholesale memes. Maggie is also an avid pursuer and collector of Funk & Soul music.

Laura works as an ABA Therapist at Behaviour Innovations, as well as a Supervisor at Sears I Can Swim and formerly as a Lifeguard and Instructor at YMCA of Oakville. Associate Director - Health Care & Wellness

Nancy joins us for her 10th year as a nurse at Camp Wenonah.  For the past 4 years, she has been the Associate Director for Health and Wellness at Camp Wenonah managing the nursing team and acting as the main contact for families with campers who have medical, emotional or behavioural needs.  Currently, Nancy is a certified Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care) holding an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree from Athabasca University in Alberta.  She is currently overseas doing humanitarian work in Ghana, West Africa working on the Paediatric Nurse Education Partnership, a joint venture of the Government of Canada, Sickkids and the Ghana Ministry of Health.  Previously she was the Nurse Practitioner for the Liver & Small Bowel Transplant team at Sickkids and holds a position in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit there as well.   She is also an active employee of the West Parry Sound Health Services team and provides coverage at the Nurse Practitioner-led Clinic in Rosseau, Ontario during the summer months.  Nancy’s interests include travelling and experiencing the great outdoors!

Ben is joining us for his 7th year on staff and his 14th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is a recent graduate of Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo, ON) with a degree in Psychology. Certified in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, Ben is also a past recipient of Wenonah’s Schaefer Scholarship (2016) for his ongoing leadership and contributions to Camp Wenonah. Ben has volunteer experience at the Parker Street Foodbank, KidsAbility Centre for Child Development and Cederbrae Public School. Ben recently completed the Stockholm marathon and enjoys all things outdoors, playing sports, Camp and gravity!

Cam is joining us for his 7th year on staff and his 15th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is a graduate of Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo, ON) with a Bachelor degree in Global Studies. He is a past employee at Sheridan Nurseries in Toronto as well a North Toronto Hockey Ambassador volunteer at the North Toronto Hockey Association. He enjoys hockey, football, baseball, basketball and camping and is also a strong advocate and connoisseur of Ice Cream.

Summer Camp Director

A veteran of many Wenonah summers, “Rudy” was named Summer Camp Director in September 2014. Rudy is a graduate of Western University, where he studied Media, Information and Technoculture with minor in Film Studies. Rudy has held numerous roles at Camp, including Assistant Director, Boys Section Director, POLARIS Director, POLARIS Tripper, Assistant Introductory Period Director, Counsellor, and Junior Program Staff. He has also worked extensively with The Camp Wenonah Centre for Outdoor Education. Rudy completed the International Camp Directors Course and was a delegate at the International Camping Congress in Antalya, Turkey in October 2014. Prior to joining the Wenonah staff team, Rudy was a long time camper and graduate of the POLARIS and WCIT leadership programs. Camp has been a family affair for Rudy over many years, as he has both attended Camp and worked at Camp with his brothers Chris and Cam and his sister Carolyn. Rudy is an avid traveller, having spent several months visiting Asia and Northern Europe.

Boys Section Director

Ian is joining us for his 5th year on staff and his 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently studying Criminology with a minor in Geography at the University of Western Ontario (London, ON). He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C, as well is certified as a Camp Canoeing Instructor by ORCKA (The Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association). He enjoys travelling and is an avid fan of all Toronto sports teams and the New York Jets.

Hannah is joining us for her 3rd year on staff and her 9th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Drama and Psychology at Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. Hannah works as a Senior Assistant Teacher at Vibe Dance & Fitness Studio, and as a receptionist for Japan Auto Part and Services. She also volunteers with Friendship Circle working with children with special needs. Hannah enjoys singing, dancing and the outdoors.

Dave joins us for his fifth year as a staff member and his eighth year total at Camp Wenonah. He is a graduate of Western University (London, ON) in Media, Information and Technoculture. He is certified both in NLS and Standard First Aid & CPR-C as well as is a certified Swim Instructor. He is a past swim instructor with Making Waves London. Dave enjoys music and running, and is a big fan of the New York Yankees.

David is from Toronto.

Counsellor

Courtney joins us for his first year at Camp Wenonah. He holds a degree in Sports Coaching from Bridgwater College (Bridgwater, UK). He holds his Football Association Coaching Level 1&2. He has worked as a Sports Coach at FFD as well as a support worker with Ocean Community Services. He also volunteered as a Youth Worker at Imayla – Urban Rural Creative Connections in Bristol. Courtney enjoys sports, outdoors, drama, and theatre (and will adamantly defend the use of the word football as opposed to soccer).

Counsellor

Maruf joins us for his second year as a staff member and his 11th year total at Camp Wenonah. He is currently studying Biology at the University of Toronto. He has worked as an Inclusive Camp Leader with the City of Brampton working to integrate children with mental disabilities into a camp setting. He is also a regular volunteer with Camp Jumoke. Maruf enjoys soccer, kayaking, and spending time with people in the outdoors.

Assistant Director

Erica is joining us for her 6th year on staff and her 16th year in total at Camp Wenonah. Erica is just finishing up her Education Degree from Bishop’s University (Lennoxville, QC). She is certified in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. A past recipient of Wenonah’s Schaefer Scholarship (2016) for her ongoing leadership and contributions to Camp Wenonah. Erica enjoys running, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Office Director

Lauren is joining us for her 4th year on staff and her 14th year total at Camp Wenonah. She is currently studying Commerce at Queens University (Kingston, ON). She is certified both in Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR-C. She has been a volunteer Coach for Competitive Cheerleading and the Ancaster Triathlon. She is also the recipient of the Governor General of Canada award and the Dean David Saunders Scholarship both for top academics. Lauren enjoys cross country running, triathlons, skiing and staying up to date on the latest trends.
