Programs - Water

Aqua Sports
Experience all that Clear Lake has to offer! This recreational program invites campers to play in and around the water, making use of Camp's beautiful beach and dock areas. Campers have the opportunity to enjoy Camp favourites including water polo, snorkeling, "Rivers & Dams", synchronized swimming, and use of the diving board. When swimming is involved, the fun runs as deep as the lake!

Canoeing
Canoeing is part of the rich heritage of camping in Canada. Wenonah is proud to continue this tradition by offering a comprehensive canoeing program. The canoeing PIC balances instructional activities with recreation. Campers have the opportunity to work towards various levels while also playing games and exploring both Clear and Saw Lake. Whether paddling for the first time, or learning how to solo paddle a canoe, the canoeing program offers challenges and rewards for every camper.

Flatwater Kayaking
Wenonah is pleased to offer a five level flatwater kayaking program that stresses skill development in a safe environment. Campers have the choice of taking part in recreational lessons, where they participate in activities including relays, "Piano Keys", and kayak hikes. Campers may choose to work towards one of five Wenonah certificate levels. Skills taught include basic to advanced manoeuvring, bracing, and rolls.

Sailing
Gliding across Clear Lake is a magical experience at Wenonah. The sailing program has been developed with the levels and standards of the Ontario Sailing Association and Canadian Yachting Association in mind. Lasers and Picos comprise the Wenonah sailing fleet. Campers learn to harness the power of the wind as they sail around the lake.

Campers have the option of taking Camp Wenonah levels, or advanced Canadian Yachting Association levels. ** Please note that Canadian Yachting Association levels are available to one month campers only.

Swimming - Lifesaving Society Lessons
Lessons are offered for those interested in advanced swimming and lifesaving instruction. Campers attending a minimum of one month can work on their Bronze Star, Medallion, or Cross. For an extra fee, examinations are available for campers looking to complete their level.

Swimming - Red Cross Swim Lessons
The comprehensive Wenonah swim program ensures that each camper receives the highest standards of instruction and programming. Campers are taught in one of two swim areas at Camp, and are supervised by qualified lifeguards and instructors. Red Cross swim and water safety levels have been recognized for over 60 years. Please provide us with your child's most recent swim level when you select this PIC.

Whitewater Kayaking
This program progresses from the flatwater kayak levels at Wenonah, and focuses on safety, principles of moving water, as well as paddling skills and techniques. For campers that meet set safety and skill prerequisites, the opportunity to participate in a day trip to the nearby Gull River is available. The thrill of paddling on moving water is an unforgettable experience!

** Whitewater kayaking is ONLY available for one-month campers aged 13-15 years. Campers MUST have already attained Kayaking Wenonah Level 2 to participate in the whitewater kayak PIC.

**Please note that an extra charge of $45.00 will apply to take part in the Gull River whitewater kayak trip.
